Our story
About Our Founder
René de la Tour is the Founder and CEO of Dupré Coins & Precious Metals. Formally the lead Numismatist at Jefferson Coin & Bullion, The leading rare coin broker in the United States. René dealt with the most Rare Coins ever made from 1992 until Jefferson Coin & Bullion ceased operation in 2009. Shortly after René established Dupré Coins & Precious Metals out of his home office, applying the benefit of 20 years experience in buying Gold / Silver Bullion, and selling the finest true rarities. 3 years later Dupré Coins first storefront was erected in 2012, where it still operates today giving customers unmatched service through the transcended experience and knowledge of Gold, Silver, and Rare Coin dealings done by René de la Tour.
René met his Mentor James U. Blanchard III in 1993, a true pioneer in precious metals, and founder for Jefferson Coin & Bullion. James made his debut in 1972 at the steps of the white house where he held up a Canadian bar of gold and dared the government to arrest him, pleading with them that it is our constitutional right to own gold. Two years later it was legalized once again!
From Prediction to Reality
The two gentlemen enjoyed a special relationship over the years that Rene credits with changing his view on the precious metals market forever. Jim Blanchard was a wonderful friend who provided guidance and wisdom to those in the numismatic community, and a leader in the industry.
Sadly James passed in 1999. Rene continues his remembrance of Jim Blanchard by telling a story of how he asked Jim his opinion on the future of the American dollar. Jim responded by saying, “it will be referred to as the American Peso in the foreseeable future!”. A prediction that came true in the next 10 years, and still is declining today.
